What driveway and paver cleaning costs in North Park
A North Park driveway between 400 and 700 sq ft runs $150 to $300 and takes 45 to 90 minutes with a 20 inch surface cleaner at 3000 PSI. Paver driveways and walkways with white efflorescence run $150 to $350 because they need an acid rinse and re-sanding after the wash.
What PSI do you need to pressure wash a driveway?
Concrete driveways clean at roughly 3000 PSI through a 20 inch surface cleaner at 4 GPM, which spreads the force instead of concentrating it. Pavers and stamped concrete drop to 1200 to 1500 PSI. Anything painted or stucco goes down to 100 to 150 PSI with chemistry doing the work.
PSI is the number everyone asks about and it is the wrong one to fixate on. Flow matters more. A 4 GPM machine moves the lifted dirt off the slab, and a 2 GPM machine at the same pressure leaves you dragging it around.
The tip is what does damage. A zero degree tip at 3000 PSI will etch a visible stripe into 1920s North Park concrete in about four seconds, which is why we do not hand-wand open slab. Longer breakdown in what PSI actually cleans a San Diego driveway

Most driveways in North Park were poured between 1915 and 1940. That concrete is soft, the aggregate sits close to the surface, and a rotary tip held in one spot will etch a permanent stripe into it in about four seconds.
We run a surface cleaner instead. It spreads the same 4 GPM across a spinning bar so the pressure lands evenly, and we keep the pass speed slow enough that a 500 sq ft slab comes up uniform instead of striped.
What we run into on North Park blocks
The pattern repeats block to block off 30th Street and up toward Morley Field. Detached garage at the back of the lot, a long single-width drive down the side of the house, and a strip of decomposed granite between the concrete and the neighbor's fence.
That layout sets the price more than square footage does. A 60 foot single-width drive is the same slab area as a two-car apron but it takes longer, because the surface cleaner has to run it in two passes and the DG strip means we are rinsing silt back off the concrete at the end.
What we clean elsewhere in North Park
Driveways are usually the first call and rarely the only one. Spring algae on the shaded side of a drive is the same organic growth that streaks the stucco above it, and both come off with the same mix at very different pressures. Our North Park pressure washing page covers patios, walkways, and block wall, soft washing in North Park covers Craftsman siding and stucco at 100 to 150 PSI, and roof cleaning covers the composition and tile roofs that feed the streaking in the first place. The seasonal side of it is in why North Park driveways grow algae in spring
That side drive is where the algae lives. It sits in shade most of the day, the marine layer holds moisture on it until nearly noon from May through July, and by spring it is green and slick enough that people stop parking on it.
Alley access changes the job too. On the alleys between Ray Street and Herman Ave we can rarely get the truck within 100 feet of the slab, so we run extra hose off the reel and the job takes an extra 20 minutes before a trigger gets pulled.
Pavers and the white haze
Paver driveways and patios in the newer builds along Utah and Louisiana pick up efflorescence, the chalky white film that comes from mineral salts wicking up through the paver as it dries. Pressure alone will not touch it. It needs a dilute acid rinse, a neutralizer, and polymeric sand swept back into the joints once the surface is dry, which is usually the following day.
We do not re-sand the same afternoon. Joints that get sand while still damp set up lumpy and wash out by the first real rain.
What moves a North Park quote up
Oil under a carport. Rust bleed from an old iron gate post. Roof runoff staining that has sat through two winters and stained a strip along the drip line.
Those need chemistry and dwell time, not more pressure, and they add $75 to $250. On a job near 32nd and Thorn last spring the driveway itself was a 50 minute pass and two old motor oil spots took another 40 minutes with a degreaser and hot water at 180 degrees.
| Surface | Typical size | Price range | Time on site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Concrete driveway | 400 to 700 sq ft | $150 to $300 | 45 to 90 min |
| Paver driveway with efflorescence | 400 to 600 sq ft | $200 to $350 | 2 to 3 hrs |
| Side walkway and alley apron | 150 to 300 sq ft | $100 to $200 | 45 to 60 min |
| Back patio | 300 to 600 sq ft | $120 to $275 | 1 to 2 hrs |
Anything draining toward a storm inlet gets reclaimed. The alleys here drain fast and the city BMP rules are specific about it, so we bring mats and a recovery tank on every North Park job rather than deciding once we are on site.
Scheduling in North Park
North Park is on our standing route, so a driveway quoted in the morning is often washed the same afternoon. Whole house work is different. Stucco and painted siding get soft washed at 100 to 150 PSI and run 2 to 3 hours on a single story, which we book separately.
If we cleaned your driveway or pavers here, mention North Park and the surface in your Google review. It helps neighbors on the same block find us.
